The Corporate 'Business Card' Film: When the Classic Format Is the Right Choice
Not every film has to be groundbreaking. When the goal is to prove scale, stability, and authority, the corporate 'business card' is the sharpest tool in the arsenal.
The Paradox of the "Conservative" Format
There's a tendency in video production to romanticize: everyone wants a "groundbreaking format," "unexpected narrative," "surprising creative move." That makes sense for viral content, B2C campaigns, or employer branding.
But there are completely different clients: commercial real estate companies, infrastructure funds, financial corporations. Their customer, investor, bank, anchor tenant, isn't looking for creativity. They're looking for confidence.
This type of film has a name: the corporate "business card." And this format has a very specific role.
What a Corporate Brand Film Really Communicates
When Ashtrom Properties, a commercial real estate company with a portfolio of office towers, logistics parks, and commercial centers across Israel, set out to produce a brand film, they weren't asking for a "love letter to their offices." They were asking for a calling card that answers one question:
"Why are we worth it: as a partner, as a tenant, as an investor?"
The answer to that question is built from four elements:
1. Longevity + History = Confidence "Founded in 1990" isn't just a date, it's "we survived 2008, COVID, and more." A company operating 30+ years in Israeli commercial real estate has been through market cycles. That's what an investor wants to know.
2. National Footprint = Scale The list of cities: Tel Aviv, Herzliya, Haifa, Jerusalem, Beer Sheva, isn't marketing. It's proof the company has **logistical backbone** and not just one local project.
3. PropTech = Perceptual Upgrade Showcasing AshtromHost, the property management app, is a "twist" that turns a "gray" real estate company into a **PropTech** company. For younger tenants, tech companies, and international partners: this is the difference between "landlord" and "work experience provider."
4. ESG = Entry into the Global Conversation LEED Gold and solar panels aren't nice-to-haves. In the 2024 commercial real estate market, **large enterprise companies are committed to ESG reporting.** They can't enter a building that doesn't meet standards. Meaning, a green asset has a tenant market that a "regular" building simply can't access.
Why Drone Footage Is the Most Cost-Efficient Way to Prove Scale
In commercial real estate, drone footage isn't a "trend", it's the engineering solution to a specific problem: how do you show a 50,000 sqm building, an active construction site, and an entire park, without spending hundreds of thousands on camera infrastructure?
Answer: one drone flight + a good editor = visual credibility that surpasses any graphic reconstruction.
The cut from active construction site → finished, occupied tower in one film does something PowerPoint presentations cannot: it proves the company finishes projects.
The Corporate "Business Card" Structure: A Working Template
Opening (0:00–0:15): Identity statement. Name + core metric (founding year / sqm / cities).
Body (0:15–1:00): Activity phases: projects → services → technology → sustainability. Each phase 10-15 seconds, specific visual, minimal text.
Close (1:00–1:30): Restrained call to action. Not "Call now!" but "This is Ashtrom." The impression *is* the call to action.
When **Not** to Choose This Format
The corporate "business card" film is the wrong choice when:
- The audience is the end consumer: they want emotion, not data - The product is new and unknown: it needs explanation, not a show of force - The goal is virality: this format isn't designed for social sharing - The campaign is crowdfunding: there, emotion is everything
But when it comes to B2B enterprise, real estate, infrastructure, finance, this format isn't "old." It's precise.
At The Video Shop, we know how to identify when a project demands a "creative leap" and when it demands professional, precise execution of a proven format. Both capabilities are worth exactly the same thing.
